Gumballs and Crystal study - K. Henderson

Gumballs and Crystal study, 6 x 6, oil on cradled board

I don't usually paint this small but I'm fascinated by artists that do. I thought I would give it a try and do a study for a larger painting. I'm glad I did because I've decided to change the lighting for the Big Painting. But this was fun.

Red Globe II - K. Henderson Still Life

Red Globe II, oil on linen, 30 x 30

Stripes and silver and red: My favorites! I've been working on this painting, off and on, for a while now and I'm pleased with the results. The still life had a brass goblet in it but I decided not to paint it. The gold reflections still remain in the bowl adding additional color and design.

Any suggestions for a good title? Ghost Goblet?

Blossoms II - Honorable Mention Award

Capturing the Sun, oil on linen 30 x 20.

About Blossom II ~ Art of Flowers sponsored by Susan Kathleen Black Foundation

In the world of floral art, there has not been a recent, major competition or exhibition equivalent to the blockbusters of other specialty subjects such as animals, birds, national parks, or the West. Blossom ~ Art of Flowers was conceived to fill this void and showcase the quality and diversity of the best work with a floral theme being produced today.

I don't usually get too excited about Honorable mention awards but I'm thrilled with this one. First of all, I don't normally paint flowers so it exciting to get recognition for this painting. Second, there were 2300 paintings entered so the Honorable mention is truly an honor.

The show will be online soon and I will let you know when that happens

Hopping Crow - Vintage toy

Hopping Crow, 10 x 8, oil on board.

I wanted to take a break from my larger work and paint something small and fun. This little fellow is a tin wind-up toy from my vintage toy collection. I hope to use him in a larger painting soon.
