Butler Institute of Art 75th Midyear Exhibition

Mine is a Long and Sad Tale, oil on canvas, 12 x 16

I'm pleased to announce that this painting has been accepted into the Butler Institute of Art's 75th Midyear Exhibition. The exhibition is one of the oldest and most respected juried art shows in America.

The Butler Midyear, an annual juried show held by The Butler Institute of American Art, surveys the current trends in American painting and other two dimensional work and presents pieces by artists living in the United States or in US Territories.

Founded in 1919 The Butler Institute is the first museum to focus exclusively on American art. It houses a world-renowned art collection that spans over three centuries of our country's history. The permanent collection or over 20,000 individual works mirrors the dynamic changes America has experienced.
Juror for this Exhibition is well-known New Jersey painter, historian and curator, Gary T. Erbe.

The exhibits opens on June 26, 2011 and closes August 28, 2011, 524 Wick Avenue
Youngstown, Ohio

A Kiss

A Kiss, 18 x 24, oil on cradled board

I love painting food, especially sweet things. The blue and silver foil on this chocolate kiss was a challenge that I enjoyed and will paint again in the future
