Secret Identity by K Henderson

Secret Identity, oil on cradled board, 24 x 18

This Trompe L'oeil is another oil painting in my Super Heroes series.

We all know that Superman, visitor from another planet, disguises himself at Clark Kent. He does this by putting on a pair of glasses. Not even Lois Lane, girl reporter , has a clue as to his true identity.

Black Cat Vintage Toys by K Henderson

Black Cat, 36 x 36, oil on linen ©K. Henderson

I love my vintage toy collection. The tin wind up toys are my favorite (this week) They are small and have a lot of character.

I really enjoyed painting the dog. He is a lead dog with black paint. The paint had fallen off in many places. The challenge was painting a series of little abstract shapes to create the whole image.

Little Feather Vintage Card

Little Feather, 8 x 10, oil on board

I haven't created one of my Vintage Playing Card paintings in a while and when I found this "Little Feather" character I knew he would be perfect for a Cowboy and Indian painting. Dastardly Bad Bill Bunion is a good counterpart for the young brave.

Cherry Turnover by K Henderson

Cherry Turnover, oil on canvas, 18 x 24

I love to paint pastry. I love to eat pastry. A marriage made in heaven.

The flaky pastry and the red cherries provide the perfect contrast against the antique bone china and the linen napkin.

Happy 4th of July! from K Henderson

America, Motherhood and Apple Pie, 36 x 30, oil on cradled board

This Trompe L'Oeil is a bit of a departure for me but so much fun! This homage to mothers, Independence Day and Old Glory has the Stars and Stripes created by Betsy Ross, the Mother of our flag. Also included are poster images of Mom as she was depicted during the first half of last century and little Apple Pies. Its completed with star shaped cookies just like mom used to make. Yum!
