Waiting - oil painting

I had a Comment that my profile photo would make a good painting. I thought so too. Here's my painting "Waiting". This is  oil on canvas, 30" x 34". It has been shown at the Oil Painters of America national juried show and the Richeson 75 portrait/figure competition. And it was in the great article about me in Southwest Art Magazine, Sept. 2008. A shipping company (which I won't name) lost this painting for over a month. Just when I thought I would never see it again, it was found and returned home safe and sound. The painting shows a woman sitting in a chair by a table, looking out a window. She is wearing a victorian silk dress. The costume is based on a dress painted by James Tissot

Jack-in-the-Box - oil painting

Here’s my most recent painting. Jack-in-the-Box is oil on masonite, 16″ x 18″. The toys are from my collection of early 20th century toys. The toys include a jack-in-the-box, a spinning top, alphabet blocks, and a jointed doll with a china head. Also in the painting is an antique book.

Summerfall - Howdy Doody- oil painting

Summerfall is another of my contemporary realism oil paintings, 30″ x 36″, featuring my vintage toys and ceramics. The main figure is the Indian Princess marionette, Winterspring Summerfall, from the Howdy Doody television show. Also included is a vintage scarf, a chalk figure (the kind you used to be able to win at carnivals) and a mule from an 1800’s mechanical toy.

Cordial Cherry

This painting is 9″ x 12″, oil on masonite. I don’t know if I wanted to simply capture the beauty of the cordial cherry or if I was just looking for an excuse to buy myself a box of chocolates! Yum!

This weeks painting - Coffee and Strawberries

This is the oil painting I just finished. Coffee and Strawberries is 24" x 18" on canvas. The coffee pot is a 19th century family  heirloom which has been past down to me.  I chose this subject because I like painting reflections in silver.

This painting can be purchased at the Salon International exhibit
