Martini by K Henderson

Martini, oil on cradled board, 24 x 18

I've painted cocktail glasses several times in my still lifes but this is the first time I've actually painted a cocktail. And it won't be the last.

I love painting the light on the glass and liquid. Most of all I like the way the olives are distorted when viewed though the glass

Martini Splash by K Henderson

Martini Splash!, oil on cradled board, 18 x 24

This is the second in my Cocktail Series. I wanted to add some Action to the still life so I experimented with photographing olives dropping into a martini. What fun! I tested several different glasses and amounts of liquid. I used several photos to work from

This oil painting is the end result.

National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society Best of America 2013

Martini Splash, 18 x 24. oil on cradled board

I'm pleased to announce that my painting  Martini Splash has been selected for the 23nd Annual 2013 NOAPS ‘Best of America’ Exhibition!

The show and sale will be exhibited October 13 - 27, 2013 — Dunnegan Gallery of Fine Art, Bolivar, MO and November 2 - 20, 2013 — The Vine Wine Bar & Gallery, Osage Beach / Lake of the Ozarks, MO

The NOAPS 2013 ‘Best of America’ Exhibit will soon be viewable on www.noaps.org

This painting was great fun to create. I took hundreds of photo of olives dropping into a beautiful green crystal glass that belonged to my mother. And no martinis were harmed in the creation of this painting. It's just water standing in for the real thing.
