New Print - Summerfall Winterspring

Summerfall Winterfall by K Henderson, Giclee Art print on Paper, 8 x 10,

Marionette, from original Oil Painting

Art Prints make great gifts!

Printed image is approx. 7" x 9" on 8" x 10" paper

Summerfall Winterspring is another of my contemporary realism oil paintings featuring my vintage toys and ceramics. The main figure is the Indian Princess marionette,  Summerfall Winterspring, from the Howdy Doody television show. Also included is a vintage scarf, a chalk figure (the kind you used to be able to win at carnivals) and a mule from an 1800’s mechanical toy.

This is a print from an original oil painting.

Remember when movies cost a dime and the cowboy serials were all the rage? Ok, neither do I. But this painting Saturday Matinee brings those time back with a  Tom Mix poster, our favorite cowboy, Howdy Doody, a cowgirl sweetheart, American Indian, a horse and a six shooter. What more do you need?

Let Your Conscience be Your Guide

Let Your Conscience Be Your Guide,  oil on cradled board, 18 x 24

Remember when Disney used to make good movies? In Pinocchio Jiminy Cricket tried to lead Pinocchio down the right path by telling him to "give a little whistle and let your conscience be your guide."

This tin wide up Jiminy and the plastic Pinocchio are from my collection of vintage toys. As I'm downsizing these days my vintage toys will be the last thing to go!

Beach by K Henderson

Beach, 24 x 18, oil on cradled board

I wanted to do a Beach themed Trompe L'oeil and as I was gathering up objects to paint

I grabbed this old wooden ammo box for the background.

Perfect! It gives the feel of weathered wood that compliments the vintage pin-up postcard

This painting has sold but Giclee prints are now available

Barbie, Queen of the Prom

Barbie, Queen of the Prom, 24 x 36, oil on linen

All the the Vintage Game Board paintings I've been creating recently have been 'Boy' games (Cowboys, Indians, Super Heroes). I decided it was time to do a 'Girl' game. And what could be more Girly than Barbie, The Famous Teenage Fashion Doll?

My favorite barbie accessory is the Cat-Eye sunglasses. This game includes Boyfriend cards and  Formal cards among others. And what teenage girl could live without her Telephone?

This game has a copyright date of 1960 from Mattel. In this game you are Barbie. You win if you are the first player to be crowned Queen of the Prom. But in order to win you must have a steady boyfriend, a prom dress and be elected president of a school club.

Orbit by K Henderson

Orbit, 20 x 30, oil on linen

Here's my latest Trompe L'oeil painting in my Vintage Board Game series. This game was manufactured by Parker Brothers in 1959.

My Orbit game is in pretty good shape. Fortunately, I have 2 very beat up Monopoly games that I used for inspiration for the tape, dents and dings.
