Blue Vase and Silk- Oil painting by K Henderson

Blue Vase and Silk is 30" x 30" oil on canvas.

This painting took FOREVER to complete. I started it with a grisalle underpainting  (a black and white painting) and then applied layers and layers of color to the vase, each layer having to dry before the next layer was applied.
Many challenges in this painting. I had to paint the blue vase plus the fabric behind the vase  and the reflections in the vase.
And the silk! My favorite fabric. It seems to capture and reflect all the colors of the rainbow.
I can't wait to do another painting like this

I got two of my paintings accepted into the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society 'Best of America' show. The show travels to 3 different locations in Missouri starting Sept 27 and ending Nov 17.

Born to this Land, 20 x 16, oil on canvas is one of the paintings accepted.  The other is Blue Skies which is one of my favorite striped still lifes
