Music. That is my current theme for my Vintage Card trompe l'oeil oil paintings.
First up is Tooty Tutor. He is from an Old Maid card game
Buck Rogers Crayon Ship, 24 x 18, oil on cradled board
I've created a few paintings with vintage crayon boxes & I went looking for more pencil boxes. Buck Rogers Crayon Ship caught my eye because of the bright colors and, well, it's really cool!
I'll be creating another painting using this box because it has great
graphics on the back, too. The 'chalk drawings' (yes, these are painted
with oil paint) are also based on the graphics from this box.
Here's another vintage game that I had to paint once I saw it. The game is
small, about 8" x 8" and I thought it deserved to be seen BIG.
I'm not sure of the exact date this game came on the scene but,
obviously, it was when we were still in awe of outer space, robots and
flying saucers. Some of us still are.
Super Valentine, 12 x 9, oil on board

This
Trompe L'Oeil is a bit of a departure for me but so much fun! This
homage to mothers has the Stars and Stripes created by Betsy Ross, the
Mother of our flagAlso included are poster images of Mom as she was
depicted during the first half of last century and little Apple Pies.
Its completed with star shaped cookies just like mom used to make. Yum!

Flying Machine, oil on cradled board, 12 x 12
I have a few metal airplanes in my toy collection. All of them are well worn and show signs of a lot of play!
This trompe l'oeil shows one of these planes against a background of early plans for The Flying Machine.
This is another in my Vintage Toy and Flight series.

It was Neither More Nor Less Than a Pig, 18 x 24, oil on cradled board
The title comes from a line in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
The porcelain was a bigger challenge than I thought it would be.
The Chocolate pig now lives in my freezer. He was such a good model.
