Robot Sam The Answer Man

Robot Sam The Answer Man, 36 x 30, oil on linen

Here's my most recent Vintage Game oil painting. Robot Sam is an electric quiz game made by Jacmar Mfg. Company in 1954. It's a battery operated game with question and answer cards. You touch a wired probe to the question and try to match the answer using the second probe . If you answer correctly a small light glows.

This yellow and red box with the image of a happy robot has taped corners.

The Game of Cootie

The Game of Cootie, 20 x 16, oil on cradled board

This children's game was created by William Schaper in 1948 and sold millions in its first years. The object of the original game is to be the first player to build a "cootie" piece by piece. Body parts are acquired with a roll of the die.

The game has changed manufactures over the years but can still be purchased today.

This painting, based on a game in my personal collection, shows the original Cootie box.

What is your favorite childhood game?
