Dick Tracy Mystery Card by K Henderson

Dick Tracy Super Detective, 16 x 20, oil on cradled board

When I saw this card game from 1941, I knew it had to be my next painting in my Vintage Game series. The Dick Tracy character was created by Chester Gould in 1931.

I included a finger print to the tape to add to the mystery theme of the painting.

Doctor, Doctor by K. Henderson

Doctor, Doctor 12 x 24, oil on cradled board

If you haven't figured it out by now, I collect vintage board games. The games in this painting are all medical related (at least to me they are).

When I see these games I can't help but sing the lyrics "Doctor, Doctor, gimmee the news" from the 1979 song "Bad Case of Loving You" written by John Martin.

Martini Splash by K Henderson

Martini Splash!, oil on cradled board, 18 x 24

This is the second in my Cocktail Series. I wanted to add some Action to the still life so I experimented with photographing olives dropping into a martini. What fun! I tested several different glasses and amounts of liquid. I used several photos to work from

This oil painting is the end result.

Singing Cat by K Henderson

Singing Cat, 24 x 18, oil on cradled board

I love these vintage boxes of 'School Crayons'. I wish I could find more of them.

Felix the Cat sings along as a young boy plays the pipe organ. The box has seen better days but the cat keeps singing.

The Dentist by K Henderson

The Dentist, oil on board, 10 x 8

This is from my series of  small, fun trompe l'oeil oil paintings of  cards from vintage games.

The Dentist is from the 1938 game 'Who is the Thief'.

Note: No vintage card was harmed in the making of this painting. I scan my cards and print them on card stock. I them take the print and rip, smudge, stomp and tape to give them the Character that I want.

Available  at Huckleberry Fine Arts.

Dark Kiss by K Henderson

Dark Kiss, 20 x 20, Oil on linen

I've painting chocolate kisses several times. I'm not sure why because the colorful foil is one of the most challenging things I've ever painted. But I'm pleased with the way this turned out.

Jolly Jumper Vintage Toy

Jolly Jumper, 9 x 12, oil on cradled board

I think everyone likes toys at Christmas time. Some of us like toys all the time.

Jolly Jumper is a Fisher-Price pull toy made in 1954. In this painting he is sitting on a colorful game board from the game Frantic Frogs.
